SUP Ten Foot Plus & Foil Expression Session

We are EXCITED to announce that the first Ten Foot Plus comp and Foil Expression Session for the 2021-22 season will be up at:

Palm Beach (with alternate locations available in case of weather),
Sunday 12 December
Starting 7am, first heat scheduled to hit the water at 7:45

PSP 10’ Plus update - Sunday 12th Dec. comp.

What a wild and windy Saturday! Big seas and southerly winds made a mess of things along the coast but all appears to be abating slowly into the afternoon.

With the swell forecast to drop and the wind swing offshore, I think it’s a good chance to kick off the 10’+ leaderboard.

**Updated venue**

Event site is now South Palm Beach south of the two rock (North of the change sheds).

Heats will be drawn up tonight so entries must close by 6pm today (Saturday). So far with limited entries, it looks like it will be a quick event. Please arrive on time for a 7am competitors meeting then first hear at 7:15am.

Due to unsuitable conditions, the foiling is cancelled for this event only.

If you wish to enter, please do so NOW! Online / pre-registration is mandatory.

Please also note, whilst the swell is settling down a bit tomorrow, it is your responsibility to surf within your ability and means.

Only fully vaccinated SPSC Members are allowed to participate, and all registrations must be done online in advance. 

QR code check-in on the day is requried.

A few important changes to past seasons:

• Particpants must bring their own refreshments.
• Social distancing rules must be followed at comp area, so please spread out.
• Hand sanitizer will be available at the tent, and sanitizing wipes will be used to clean scoring equipment between heats.

And our standard Ten Foot Plus comp details:

• There is no heat progression, every surfer will ride twice earning points for a final position at the end of the 3 events.
• All competitors are expected to remain at the event site for the entire duration of the heats as judging is pre-allocated so everyone gets a turn to judge a heat.
• Heats will be 15 minutes long and run back to back, which means 3 hours total run time.
• All competitors are expected to wear leg ropes and allocated coloured rash vests.
• Boards must be over 10’ in length.
• Rides will be judged on style, length of ride, positioning, wave selection, difficulty of ride/maneuvers and all round performance. Points will be allocated in reflection to the intensity and difficulty of the moves performed.
• All competitors are expected to be at the marshalling tent around 7am, for a 7:20am riders briefing and 7:30am potential start. Given smooth running of heats this will have things wrapped up by noon.
• All general surfing rules, common sense and good sportspersonship are expected at all times.

Don't forget to hang around after the Ten Foot Plus heats to watch or participate in the Foil Expression Session. Some of the best foilers in Australia will be showcasing their glides and carves and maybe even aerials. They will also be providing hints and tips for the less experienced.
